Units from 1-174th ADA deploy on same day

174th crest(9/26/2018) — Elements of the Ohio Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 174th Air Defense Artillery Regiment deployed during separate call to duty ceremonies.

About 150 personnel from the 1st Battalion, 174th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, headquartered in Cincinnati, were honored during a ceremony at the Landmark Church in Cincinnati. They will provide personnel support to the homeland defense mission in the National Capital Region in Washington, D.C., which includes the use of radar, ground-based air defense systems and communications equipment. They will join 60 members of the unit who deployed earlier this month.

About 80 personnel from Battery C, 174th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, headquartered in Marysville, were honored in a ceremony at Marysville High School. They are deploying to Europe and will provide enhanced air defense capability in support of U.S. European Command, as part of the European Deterrence Initiative.

The 1-174th ADA has previously deployed in support of the War on Terrorism to Germany, Texas, Kuwait and Iraq.
