Joint Base Langley-Eustis relocates aircraft
to Rickenbacker in advance of Hurricane Florence

LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. (09/12/18) — Joint Base Langley-Eustis evacuated vessels and aircraft in advance of Hurricane Florence, Sept. 11 to avoid possible impacts from the advancing storm.

U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptors and T-38 Talons were relocated to Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base in Columbus, Ohio. About 100 personnel from the 1st and 192nd Fighter Wings will be on location at the base to provide support to the aircraft.

Hurricane Florence, which is expected to hit Virginia sometime Thursday, Sept. 13, poses a threat to JBLE’s coastline position, which is vulnerable to storm surges.
