Colonel Daniel J. Shank
Colonel Daniel J. Shank is the Assistant Adjutant General – Army, Ohio National Guard, and also serves as the Commander, Ohio Army National Guard. Colonel Shank assumed these duties on February 6, 2019 and is responsible for establishing policies, priorities, and oversight for the readiness of approximately 11,500 Soldiers for overseas deployments and homeland defense missions.
Colonel Shank enlisted in the Ohio Army National Guard as an Intel Analyst in Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 16th Engineer Brigade, in 1987. He received a commission through the Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia in 1994. He has commanded at the detachment, company, battalion, and brigade levels while serving in staff assignments at the battalion, brigade, state area command, and joint force headquarters levels. Recent assignments include Commander, 73rd Troop Command; Construction and Facility Management Officer (J7, Joint Force Headquarters); Commander, Recruiting and Retention Battalion (Ohio Army National Guard); and Chief, Training Branch (Ohio Army National Guard). ~ READ BIOGRAPHY
