Seventeen high school and college educators attended the Ohio National Guard's hands-on Familiarization Tour May 16, 2013, at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base in Columbus, Ohio, to learn about the ONG's missions and the benefits of serving in the military. College instructors were provided tips on how to promote a military-friendly campus, while all attendees had the opportunity to meet and interact with many ONG Soldiers and Airmen.

Ohio National Guard celebrates 20th anniversary of State Partnership Program pairing with Hungary

The Ohio National Guard and Hungary mark the 20th anniversary of their National Guard State Partnership Program pairing with a formal ceremony on Friday, May 17, 2013, in Columbus. Ohio's partnership with Hungary has included numerous military, socio-political and economic exchanges over the past two decades, highlighted by several significant events including Hungary's entry into NATO in 1999, and the successful joint deployment rotations of ONG and Hungarian Defense Forces members to train and advise the emerging Afghan National Army over the past several years.

About 50 members of the 121st Air Refueling Wing participated in the Komen Race for the Cure May 18, 2013, in downtown Columbus, Ohio. They ran to support a fellow Airman, Master Sgt. Shantina Byrd, who is a breast cancer survivor. This year's race had about 40,000 participants and raised $2 million to support health programs and scientific research.

Military Appreciation Day at the 2013 Memorial Tournament is Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. All active-duty, Reserve, National Guard, Gold Star Families, retired service members and immediate Family members receive complimentary admission with a military ID card. Gates open at 7 a.m., and activities include a free exclusive PGA/Military Golf Clinic at 1:30 p.m., Honoree Ceremony at 3 p.m. (Raymond Floyd) and Jack Nicklaus Golf Clinic at 4:30 p.m.

Ohio National Guard Soldiers and Airmen hold the American flag May 29, 2013, during The Memorial Tournament Honoree Ceremony at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. The ceremony, which honored former PGA star Raymond Floyd, was part of Military Appreciation Day at The Memorial, as service members were invited to watch practice rounds and the Nationwide Invitational Pro-Am for free before the first round of the tournament the next day.
