Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center

Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center is an Ohio Army National Guard training site in Portage and Trumbull counties that consists of about 21,000 acres, with various small arms and machine gun weapons ranges permanent facilities to support individual and collective training events for both weekend and annual training, for Army and other Department of Defense units in the midwestern United States.
Formerly known as Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center, the installation was officially renamed Camp James A. Garfield Joint Military Training Center during a ceremony Oct. 10, 2018. In the 20th century, it was called Ravenna Army Ammunition Plant, where ammunition was produced for the U.S. military during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam conflict.
Major infrastructure improvements are turning Camp James A. Garfield into a world-class training center for Army and other Department of Defense units in the midwestern U.S. The installation is undergoing $37 million in upgrades as part of a plan to become a world-class training destination for military units as well as civilian law enforcement and first responders. Among the recent improvements is a fire and movement range, and the current construction of an automated record fire range. Camp James A. Garfield also features TADSS, or Training Aids, Devices, Simulators and Simulations, state-of-the-art digital training equipment that allows for realistic combat training without the logistic challenges of live-fire ranges.
