Air defense artillery battalion returns
from mission protecting National Capital Region

COLUMBUS, Ohio (11/3/2015) — The Ohio National Guard welcomed home about 200 Soldiers from the 1st Battalion, 174th Air Defense Artillery Regiment during a public ceremony at Tri-County Assembly of God in Fairfield, Ohio.

The 1-174th Air Defense Artillery deployed as Task Force Shiloh to the National Capital Region (NCR) in support of Operation Noble Eagle, serving an integral role in the Integrated Air Defense System mission. The task force’s mission was to provide air defense capabilities in order to protect the airspace around the NCR in the Washington, D.C. area. This included the use of aircraft, radar, ground based air defense systems and communications equipment.

The unit has previously deployed in support of the War on Terrorism to Germany, Texas, Kuwait and most recently in 2010, when the 1-174th was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn.
