COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Brig. Gen. Jefforey A. Smith, assistant commanding general, Afghan National Police Development will be available for a brief interview at 10 a.m., Wed., April. 13, 2011, at the Defense Supply Center Columbus located at 3990 East Broad Street, Whitehall, Ohio 43213.

Smith will be in Columbus to brief Col. James Perry in preparation of the Ohio National Guard's 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team's (IBCT) upcoming deployment to Afghanistan.

The 37th IBCT is a 3,500-member Ohio Army National Guard formation, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. While the 37th IBCT is headquartered in Ohio, it is composed of units of both the Ohio and Michigan National Guards, split about 2/3-1/3. The 37th IBCT is comprised of 18 command and subordinate units in Ohio with 12 command and subordinate units in Michigan.

The 37th IBCT will deploy under the command of Col. Perry and take over the NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan.
