237th Support Battalion

MEDINA, Ohio—The Soldiers and Family Readiness Group of Company G, 237th Support Battalion, sponsored a community and employer outreach event at the unit’s Medina armory May 16, 2010, to demonstrate to neighbors and civilian employers what their Soldiers do on a normal drill weekend and to thank them for their support.

Children bounced around in inflatable houses as adults browsed static displays, including night-vision capability demonstrations,

a weapons showcase, nuclear, biological and chemical gear familiarization, a Medium Tactical Vehicle 5-ton Wrecker, and operation of a palletized loading system.

The unit provided lunch for the guests, which included Medina Mayor Dennis Hanwell, Medina County Commissioner Patrica Geissman and Cleveland Clinic - Medina Operations Director of Security Jim Bigam. Hanwell took the opportunity to promote two Soldiers from the 212th Maintenance Company, which is collocated with Company G and also drilling that weekend.
