THIS POSITION IS BEING ANNOUNCED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE MERIT PROMOTION PROCEDURES AND COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT.  WEARING OF THE APPROPRIATE ARMY/AIR UNIFORM IS REQUIRED WHILE EMPLOYED IN THIS POSITION. THIS MAY BE A DEVELOPMENTAL POSITION.  PROMOTION IS NOT GUARANTEED, NOR IS THE PROMISE OF PROMOTION IMPLIED. PERMANENT CHANGE OF STATION (PCS) FUNDS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. DUE TO MANNING RESTRICTIONS, THIS POSITION WILL BE FILLED WHEN MANNING AND FUNDING BECOME AVAILABLE.

 

DUTIES:  This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility.  The primary purpose of this position is to perform calibration, diagnostics repair, and certification of electronics, mechanical, and radiation Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).

 

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Experience which demonstrates a working knowledge of electronic principles involved in the generation and measurement of such elements as voltage, current, impedance, capacitance frequency and inductance  Must be skilled in the use of various precision measurement instruments and standards.

 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: (WG-11) – 15 months experience in which the applicant demonstrates the following:

1. Experience in the repair and maintenance of items such as microwave equipment, radar and missile test consoles, high frequency sampling and storage oscilloscopes, distortion analyzers, recording oscitolographs and digital delay generators.

2.  Experience in the practical application of operating principles as the production and utilization of oscillations over a broad range of frequencies; signal and waveform behavior distortion and amplification; pulse, trigger and synchronization techniques, digital /analog processing and data conversion techniques; and a variety of display and indication methods.

3.  Experience in interpreting and applying a variety of technical electronic information such as schematic symbols, mathematical expressions and formulas, calibration procedures, and other reference materials.

4. Experience in using precision measurement instruments such as pulse generators, oscilloscopes, analyzers, frequency counters and vacuum tube voltmeters, etc.

5. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining remedy where complex relationships exist among different electronic systems requiring knowledge of units and systems with possible damage to equipment if incorrectly handled.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

1.  Ability to apply a comprehensive knowledge of operating electronic principles.

2.  Skill in repairing and maintaining various electronic measurement equipment.

3.  Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions and determine causes of mechanical problems.

4.  Skill in using precision instruments.

5.  Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams and schematics to make repairs and modifications.

 

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION:  NOTE: College Transcripts are required if you wish to use Education as a substitution for experience or if a degree is a requirement for the position.  An copy of the transcript must be submitted with the Job Application. Education must be directly related to the field of work. Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week for 6 months of experience).   Maximum credit is 6 months of specialized experience.
