Malone and about 70 other Soldiers from Company B, 3rd Battalion, 238th Aviation Regiment (General Support Aviation Battalion) returned from a yearlong deployment providing CH-47 Chinook helicopter support for Army units in the Regional Command East area of operations in Afghanistan.

On this day in Ohio National Guard history, Nov. 27, 1925

On this day in Ohio National Guard history, Nov. 27, 1925, Company C, 1st Battalion, 148th Infantry Regiment, Tiffin, is organized at Fremont as Company B, 148th Infantry, a designation it held until 1963. During World War II, the 148th Infantry had six of its Soldiers earn the Medal of Honor, with three coming from Company B -- Pvt. Rodger Young, Pfc. John Reese Jr. and Tech. Sgt. Cleto Rodriguez, who was the only one of the six to survive the war.
