Comprised of more than 550 Soldiers and Airmen from units throughout Ohio, HRF personnel are trained to provide critical needs in an emergency including command and contol, security, search and extraction, decontamination, medical triage, aviation, communications, transportation and maintenance.

The HRF can respond within six to 12 hours and is equipped to deploy via ground or air transportation to incident sites.

The Ohio National Guard Homeland Response Force (HRF) provides timely, life-saving capabilities within the first 48 hours of a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear or high-yield explosive (CBRNE) emergency.

The unit earned an on-site evaluation as a semifinalist for the Army Award for Maintenance Excellence Jan. 17, 2012, at the unit armory in Kettering, Ohio. The Department of the Army evaluation team visits only units that are judged the best of the best after annual state, regional and National Guard Bureau competitions.
