You know what best suits your family; so help us design the event around you!

We are looking for new ideas and locations for camps, events and programs in the areas where you live. Ideal venues would be low cost, easily accessible, community based and offer a variety of activities or programs. We know these places exist and need your help finding them. Please take time to share with us. Your contribution might be the next big success story that fills these pages.

Hero Camp & Strong Family Workshops


TROOP & FAMILY CAMPS -
Troop & Family Camps are designed for the whole family to spend a fun-filled weekend together strengthening ties and building camaraderie with other military families. Be sure to check the specific details for each camp on our website, as each camp has different activities, then pick the camp that best suits your family. Who defines your family? You do. Each camp will provide a unique experience. Activities that may be available at your selected camp are: waterskiing, sailing, kayaking, bike riding, family games, crafts, campfires, high ropes, zip line, canoeing, hiking, basketball, archery, fishing, and, more.

Note: Due to the popularity of these events please limit your family to 1 family camp per year.
$75.00* per family for the first 4 people then $10 per additional person

OMK teams up with an equestrian farm near Cleveland to make an impact on your child in a unique way. The farm engages the therapeutic power of their horses to discover and nurture the special abilities of individuals, families and communities.

The equestrian program participants will groom and tack their own horse with the help of their volunteers along with understanding horse behavior and how the horse can relate to humans

HERO CAMP/ STRONG FAMILY WORKSHOPS - Lucas
At Malabar Farm State Park, youth will join local park naturalists in discovering what the park has to offer. Farm animals, and so much more will be explored! Come meet other local military families and enjoy the wild outdoors. Simultaneously, parents will be able to engage in a parent workshop along with a tour of the "Big House".

HERO CAMP/ STRONG FAMILY WORKSHOPS - Columbus
Enjoy the morning meeting other military families and participate in special programming that includes meeting and touching animals. While the kids are learning about animals, parents will be connecting with other families. After the program is over, enjoy the afternoon exploring the zoo with your family.

Any Military Family with children ages 5 and above.. Cost: $12 per person,

Nature Fun at the Toledo Botanical Gardens! Learn to enjoy the plants and animals in the garden in a new and more informed light. We will provide a picnic catered lunch and then enjoy the rest of the afternoon on your own with a gardens scavenger hunt.

Spend a fun filled day on a 122-acre working farm and outdoor education center, which invites its visitors to explore and learn the history, methods and values of a working family farm in a natural setting. This is a great chance to visit a local Cincinnati farm!

Ohio State Sports Sampler is a one-day camp where youth can interact with OSU student athletes and have fun while participating in athletic activities designed to teach valuable leadership and teamwork skills.

TEEN NAUTICAL ADVENTURE CAMP - Sandusky, Ohio
If you like sailing, then this is the camp for you! At Nautical Adventure Camp, you’ll spend 5 days sailing on Lake Erie. As part of a 5-member crew, you’ll learn essential sailing skills on a 34-ft. sailboat, like rigging a sail, anchoring, and boat handling. As proof of your sailing skills, at the end of the week you’ll have the opportunity to earn the Day Cruising certification offered by the International Charter Sailing Organization. Evenings will be spent on shore at a local campground, where you’ll relax over dinner and some typical camp activities with your fellow crew members. Come join us for a great time on a Great Lake! TEEN ADVENTURE EXCURSION CAMP
Are you looking for adventure and variety? Then join us for Adventure Excursion Camp! Each day a new experience awaits you in West Virginia’s New River Gorge. Experience the thrill of the New River, with some of the best whitewater rafting in the country. Experienced instructors will teach the fundamentals of rock climbing, mountain biking, and sea kayaking. How about hiking and high ropes – after ascending to one of the most famous lookouts in the New River Gorge area, you’ll take to the trees for a high-ropes obstacle course. Each evening you’ll return to base camp to hang out with your fellow crew members and get ready to take on another day of wilderness adventure.

MILITARY TEEN ADVENTURE CAMP - Lake Erie Adventure - Vermillion, Ohio
Come to the shores of Lake Erie for a week of adventure activities in a residential camp setting. Whether it’s on the sea, on land, or flying through the air, there’s something for everyone – high ropes, sea kayaking, wilderness survival skills, geocaching and wilderness navigation, just to name a few. Let the good times roll - new this year is log rolling, yes, log rolling! This century-old sport of lumberjacks has turned into an exciting water activity for the modern era. To keep the fun rolling, there’s also zip lining, jet skis, swimming, giant swing, teambuilding challenges, campfires, crafts, and much, much more. Accommodations at Beulah Beach will be dormitory style, and meals will be served in a cafeteria. Great times on a Great Lake!

TEEN WHITEWATER ADVENTURE CAMP - Drop off/pick-up Ohio Univ - Athens, Ohio
A wild whitewater experience! The Ohiopyle State Park area is nestled in the Laurel Mountains of western Pennsylvania, where over the course of 6 days and 5 nights you’ll experience thrills and excitement of some of the best whitewater in the eastern United States. You’ll go whitewater rafting on the mighty Youghiogheny River. Whitewater kayaking is now a two-day experience – you’ll learn the fundamentals on a lake one day and then take it up a notch for another day of more advanced whitewater. Then there’s a day of SUP’ing (stand-up paddle boarding), one of the newest crazes to emerge in the world of paddle sports. In the evenings you’ll chill with your crewmates, camp out in tents, and learn to cook your meals over a camp stove.

OMK CAMP KELLY'S ISLAND TEEN CAMP
OMK Camp Kelleys Island week-long teen camp is designed specifically with teens in mind - the fun and exciting list of activities allow these teens to build long-lasting friendships with other military youth in an environment designed to challenge and engage them.

Ages 12-15. Cost: $65 per person,

   

Operation: Military Kids (OMK)

Initiative conceived and designed in January 2004 to support "Suddenly" Military Kids thru activities and programming specifically targeted to Youth of the guard and reserve component directly affected by the Global War on Terror. Ohio became an OMK State officially in March of 2005. Since its inception, OMK has been involved with and supported every event/activity executed by Ohio's Youth Program.
