Command Sergeant Major Albert M. Whatmough

Command Sergeant Major Albert M. Whatmough enlisted in the Ohio Army National Guard in January 1986. He graduated from Akron St.Vincent-St.Mary High School, and completed his Army Basic Training at Ft. Knox, KY as an Armor Crewman. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 107th Cavalry and has served in a variety of enlisted positions to include tank driver, loader, gunner and tank commander on the M48, M60, M1 and M1A1 series tank. Additional assignments include Instructor and Course Manager at the Ohio National Guard State Military Academy, 145th RTI. In 1991 he was re-assigned as a Platoon Sergeant to Company D, 1st Battalion 107th Cavalry where he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant. Other assignments include Operations Sergeant Major for Joint Task Force Chiriqui in Honduras. In 2000, he was selected and promoted to the rank of Command Sergeant Major of the 1st Battalion, 107th Cavalry which reorganized into the 145th Combined Arms Battalion (Heavy).
