Chief Master Sgt. Tamara Phillips
Chief Master Sgt. Tamara Phillips is the State Command Chief Master Sgt. for the Ohio National Guard and works directly for the Adjutant General for Ohio. The Ohio National Guard consists of over 16,000 Soldiers and Airmen. The Ohio Air National Guard consists of approximately 5,000 Airmen including four flying wings and eight support units that serve our communities, state and nation for homeland defense and federal mision. CMSgt Tamara R. Phillips recently served as the Superintendent of the 178th Force Support Squadron, 178th Fighter Wing, Springfield Air National Guard Base, Ohio. As the Squadron Superintendent, she was responsible for four flights dealing in a wide range of products and services. She was responsible for mentorship and professional development of all assigned enlisted members. She was also an advisor to Commanders, Recruiting, Retention, Family Programs, the Human Resource Advisor, First Sergeants, Chief and Airman/NCO Councils. CMSgt Phillips enlisted in the 168th Air Refueling Wing, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska in March 1987 as an Administrative Specialist. She transferred to the 445th Airlift Wing, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio for 18 months and then enlisted in the Ohio Air National Guard, Springfield Ohio. She was offered and accepted a full-time technician position in the 162nd Fighter Squadron orderly room and shortly thereafter moved into the Wing Commander’s executive administrative position. She also served as the Wing Staff and Operations Group First Sergeant and in 2002, she was selected as the Mission Support Flight Superintendent and is now the Squadron Superintendent of two recently merged organizations (Mission Support Flight and Services Flight) which now form the Force Support Squadron.
